Bu yazıda son yıllarda kullanılması hemen hemen zorunlu duruma gelen SI birimler sisteminin öncelikle temel ve türetilmiş birimler ve simgeleri, daha sonra da SI dışı birimlerin (uzunluk, kütle, zaman, kuvvet, basınç, alan, hacım, konsantrasyon, hız, hacım debisi, ivme, yoğunluk, viskozite, enerji, güç, termodinamik sıcaklık) simge ve çeviri faktörleri verilmiştir. Buna ek olarak elektrik konusuna ilişkin birimler ve SI eşdeğerleri ile havalandırmada kullanılan SI birimleri ve diğer birim eşde­ ğerleri de bu yazıda yer almaktadır.

In this paper, the basic and derived units and symbols of SI are given in detail owing the fact that they have become a necessity in ail over the world recent years. The symbols and conversion factors of length, mass, time, force, pressure, area, volume, concentration, velocity, flowrate, acceleration, densiiy, viscosity, energy, power and thermodynamic heat are described. In addition, units used in electricity and SI equivalents; SI units used in mine ventilation and their equivalents in other unit systems are presented in different sections.
