Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kurucu felsefesi olan Kemalizm’i kavramsal ve tarihsel olarak anlamaya ve demokrasi ile ilişkisini açıklamaya çalışmaktır. Bu nedenle çalışmada öncelikle Kemalizm kavramı üzerinde durulmaya çalışılmıştır. Kemalist ideoloji her ne kadar Cumhuriyet döneminde şekillense de aslında tarihsel köken itibariyle Osmanlı’nın son döneminde ortaya çıkan Jön Türk hareketine ve bu hareketin içinde yaşanan ayrışmalar sonrasında ortaya çıkan İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti’ne dayanmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışmada, Kemalist ideolojinin Jön Türklerle ve İttihat ve Terakki ile başlayan tarihsel arka planı üzerinde durulmuştur. Daha sonra, Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşundan çok partili hayata geçişe kadar etkili olan Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nin parti programında yer alan ve kurucu felsefeyi oluşturan altı ilkenin demokrasi ile ilişkisi incelenmeye çalışılacaktır.

Aim of this paper is trying to understand Kemalizm that is founder philosophy of Republic of Turkey in conceptional and historical explain relationship with democracy. For this reason in the paper primarily conception discussions about Kemalizm has been touched on. Kemalist ideology, actually rely to in consideration of Young Turks movement appeared in the last period of Ottoman and İttihat and Terakki Party appeared after separations in the Young Turks Movement, howsoever it also was taken on a shape. Thence in the paper, it has been deliberated to historical background of Kemalist ideology began with Young Turks and İttihat and Terakki. Afterward, it has been deliberated to relationship between democracy and six principles which have been effective and took place for party programme of People’s Republican Party and have been created founder philosophy from foundation of republic to transition of multiparty system.
