KÜÇÜK OTEL İŞLETMELERİ VE ÇEVRE YÖNETİMİ

Araştırmanın Temelleri: Konaklama işletmeleri doğal çevreye çeşitli yollarla zarar vermektedir. Büyük işletmeler çevre yönetimi yeteneklerini geliştirecek kaynak ve imkânlara sahipken küçük işletmeler bundan yoksundur. Türkiye konaklama sektörünün %95’i küçük ve orta büyüklükteki işletmelerden KOBKİ oluşmaktadır.

Small Hotel Enterprises and Environmental Management

Basics of the study: Accommodation establishments pollute the environment in several ways. While larger hotel establishments have resources and skills to improve their environmental management ability, small hotels are deprived of such tools. Small and medium sized hotel enterprises SMHEs constitute 95 percent of Turkish accommodation sector. For this reason environmental management efforts should concentrate on SMHEs. Aim of the study: The aim of the study is to reveal and discuss the dimensions of environmental management in SMHEs by the use of previous research findings. Data resources: The resource data is composed of the previous research conducted on hotel business and environmental management. Although the use of secondary data seems to be the limitation of this research, this method doesn’t diminish the importance of the study. Discussions and Conclusions: In the study, new perspectives were discussed about the capabilities of SMHEs in terms of waste reduction, re-use and recycling. Increased awareness and fundamental changes in perceptions and attitudes toward environmental management of SMHEs is urgently needed. This change should be created by the contribution and collaboration of public and private sectors, local authorities, the society and the educational institutions
