Modernizm/postmodernizm tartışmasının ortaya çıkardığı algı değişikliği, sanat ve siyaset ilişkisini yeniden gündeme getirmiştir. Sanatın siyasetten bağımsız olması gerektiğine ilişkin modernist tez, öncelikle Frankfurt Okulu tarafından sanat ve siyaset arasındaki sınırın belirsizleştiği ve ortadan kalktığı görüşüyle sarsılmış, postmodern yorumlara ilham vermiştir. 1980'lerde yeni liberal ekonomi siyasetinin bir gereği olarak, devletlerin kültür konusundaki belirleyici rolü büyük oranda özel şirketlere devredilmiş; bu sayede, iş dünyasının siyasî güçten aldığı pay artmıştır. Sanat ve siyaset ilişkisi, hem bu iki alandaki öznelerin birbirleriyle etkileşimleri; hem de tür, biçem ve eğilim çekişmeleri gibi daha içsel sorunlarla karmaşık bir hal almıştır. Bu çalışmada, sanat ve siyaset ilişkisi bağlamında değişen algılara dair bir inceleme yapılmış, dünya ve Türkiye sanat ortamından örneklere yer verilmiştir. The modernist thesis about that art should be freed from politics, firstly, has been weakened by Frankfurt School's view that the borderline between art and politics had been undetermined and inspired postmodern interpretations. As a requirement of neoliberal politics of economy in 1980's, the distinctive role of the states on cultural field has been significantly transmitted to private corporations. So, world of business has raised its lot of politic power. The relation on art and politics has been ambigously elaborated by both interactions of the subjects on these spheres and more endogenous issues such as styles, genres, and movements. This work studies these changing perceptions in the context of art's engagement to politics and features some exemplifications from world's and Turkey's art scenes.
