20. Yüzyıla Kadar Heykelde Drape

HEYKELDE DRAPE Özet İnsanların neredeyse bütün kültürlerde günlük hayatta giyimli olduğu ve insan figürünün günümüze kadar sanatın temel konusu olduğu dikkate alındığında vücut ve kumaş dökümü ilişkisinin heykel sanatı açısından önemi anlaşılır. Heykel sanatında insan figürüne ve kumaşın fiziksel dökümünü ifade eden drapeye gösterilen ilgi, imgelerin estetik düzeye ulaşmasını, farklı biçimlendirmelerle sayısız heykelin ortaya çıkmasını sağlamıştır. Bu büyük ilginin heykelin sosyal, politik ve dini işlevleri ile bağlantılı pek çok gerekçesi vardır. Drape, tarihte insan figürü ile birlikteliğinden ortaya çıkan ifade çeşitliliği içinde bazı dönemler sadece çıplak figürün etkisini kuvvetlendirmek, heykele katkı sağlamak için bazı dönemler ise heykelin tamamında başlı başına bir ifade aracı olarak kendini gösterir. Drapeler hareket ve ışık-gölgenin kullanımına özgü efektleri yakalamak, hacmin ağır görünümünü hafifletmek ve heykelin bütününe katkı yapan özellikleri vurgulamada etkilidir. Drape formuna ilişkin bilgilenmek ve geçmişin sanat eserlerinde oynamış olduğu rolü anlamak, heykelde form geliştirmek adına önemlidir.

DRAPERY IN SCULPTURE UNTIL 20. CENTURY

Considering that human anatomic figure has historically been the main theme of sculpture and people have socially tended to wear garments in most civilizations, relationship between body and cloth drapery has evidently been of great importance. Sculptural interest in human anatomy and drapery of cloth has enabled images to achieve esthetical levels and innumerable works of sculpture to be created, which has been variously justified in association with its social, political and religious functions. Drapery has appeared only to emphasize influence of nude figure in occasional periods within diversity of expression created by combination of human figure with itself throughout history and contribute to sculpture and has sometimes created a direct means of expression. Draperies are functional in catching effects unique to light, shadow and movement, thus softening weight of volume and emphasizing their related periodicity in wholeness of sculpture. Comprehension of drapery and its roles in previous works of art is of great importance to develop given forms in sculpture.
