Chickenpox Disease After the Zona Zoster Infection

Varicella Zoster Virüs (VZV) can be transmitted by air, respiratory droplets and direct contamination through lesions. In this paper, a 45 year old male patient was presented who had diagnosed with chickenpox disease aftera zona zoster infection in a family elder. While a patient was hospitalized and was under acyclovir treatment, vesicular lesions developed in her 45 year-old son-in-law. Serological testing of the casegave positive VZV IgM results. There is some studiese valuate chickenpox transmission from zona zoster. Factors such as age, vaccination status, location of the lesion and, size of the lesion were not found to be significant risk factors during studies conducted for transmission of chickenpox from varicella zoster. There fore, it should be keep in mind tha tchickenpox disease can occur secondary to zona zoster and precautions should be carried out in order to prevent transmission.
