COVID-19 ve Ev Hapsindeki Çocuk: Salgının Psikolojik Etkileri ve Hafifletme Yolları

COVID-19 salgınının Türkiye’de görülmesiyle, okullar kapatılmış ve 20 yaş altındaki bireyler için sokağa çıkma yasağı getirilmiştir. Okulların uzun süreli kapatılması ve ev hapsi nedeni ile çocukların yaşıtlarıyla yeterli iletişim kurma ve park gibi açık alanlarda etkinlikleri sınırlanmıştır. Yaşanılan bu değişiklikler, yaşamlarında büyük bir değişiklik yaşayan çocuklar için eşsiz bir süreçtir. Bu süreçte çocukların kaygı, öfke, sinirlilik ve korkuyu deneyimlemeleri muhtemeldir. Yaşanılan kaygı ve korkunun nedenleri arasında; kendisi, ailesi ve akrabalarının ölmesinden veya tıbbi tedavinin ne anlama geldiğinden korkma sayılabilir. Çocukların yaşanılan değişikliklere yönelik hissettikleri öfke ve sinirlilik gibi duyguları hafifletmek için çeşitli stratejiler kullanılabilir. Bu, çocukların yaşlarına uygun anlayabilecekleri bir şekilde neler olduğu anlatılmalı, dürüst olunmalı, sevgi ve ilgi göstererek açıklama yapılmalıdır. Çocuklara rol model olan ebeveynler, çocuklar üzerindeki psikolojik etkilerin hafifletilmesinde temel rol oynamaktadırlar. Bu nedenle, çocukların yaşı ve gelişim dönemlerine uygun şekilde ve anlayacakları biçimde doğru ve yeterli bilgi sağlanmalıdır. Bu derlemede, COVID-19 salgını nedeniyle ev hapsindeki çocukların karşılaştıkları psikolojik etkiler ve bu etkileri hafifletme yollarının sunulması amaçlanmıştır.
