Anesthetic approach in patient with laryngectomy who aspirated foreign body (Case report)

Foreign body aspiration (FBA) can occur in children and adults and be life-threatening. Symptoms may remain indolent for years and it may present a chronic picture. Foreign body aspiration in adults is associated with the presence of predisposing factors that become active when the protective airway reflexes disappear. In this case report we present a 56-year-old male patient who had undergone a supracricoid laryngectomy six months before, leaving a permanent tracheal stoma. While under general anesthesia for revision oftracheal stoma respiratory failure developed.
