Resuscitation with blood and blood products in trauma patients

The prevention and treatment of hemorrhagic shock due to traumatic injury and other causes of deterioration at the perfusions of the organs is important. The general approach to transfusion of blood and blood products and surgical therapy of trauma patients has changed over the last years. Successful resuscitation of trauma patients may be possible by preventing the coagulopathy, acidosis and hypothermia triad that leads to irreversible shock. Damage control surgery has been widely used for this purpose. This review is about management of trauma patients and resuscitation with blood and blood products.
