POSTOPERATİF BOĞAZ AĞRISININ AZALTILMASINDA FLUTİKAZON PROPİYONAT KULLANIMI

Amaç: Trakeal entübasyon havayolu mukozasına travmanın en önemli nedenidir ve %21-65 insidansla postoperatif boğazağrısıyla (POBA) sonuçlanmaktadır. POBA hasta memnuniyetsizliğiyle yakından ilişkilidir. Çalışmamızda postoperatif boğazağrısının önlenmesinde flutikazon propiyonatın etkinliğini araştırmayı amaçladık. Yöntem: Genel anestezi altında septorinoplasti ameliyatı geçirecek ASA I-II 60 hasta randomize olarak 2 gruba ayrıldı.Kontrol grubundaki (Grup C) hastalardan 30 saniye süresince 10 ml benzidamin hidroklorür (HCl) ile gargara yapmaları istendi.Flutikazon propiyonat grubundaki (Grup F) hastalara ise 30 saniye süresince 10 ml benzidamin hidroklorür ile gargara yaptırıldı veentübasyondan hemen önce vokal kordlar üzerine 3 puff (50 mikrogram/puff) flutikazon propiyonat sprey püskürtüldü. Postoperatif2., 4. ve 24. saatlerde POBA değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Flutikazon propiyonat grubunda (Grup F) 24. saatteki postoperatif boğaz ağrısının benzidamin hidroklorür grubuna(Grup C) göre anlamlı olarak azaldığı saptanmıştır (p

THE USE OF FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE FOR THE REDUCTION OF POSTOPERATIVE SORE THROAT

Objective: Tracheal intubation is the most important cause of trauma to the airway mucosa and results in postoperative sorethroat (POST) with an incidence of 21-65%. POST is closely associated with patient dissatisfaction. Our aim was to evaluate theeffectiveness of fluticasone propionate in the prevention of POST. Method: Sixty ASA I-II patients undergoing septorhinoplasty were randomly divided into two groups. Control group (Group C)were requested to gargle with 10 ml benzydamine hydrochloride (HCl) for 30 seconds. The fluticasone propionate group (Group F)were requested to gargle with benzydamine HCl for 30 seconds and 3 puffs (50 micrograms/puff) of fluticasone propionate wassprayed onto the vocal cords immediately before tracheal intubation. POST was evaluated at the 2nd, 4thand 24thpostoperative hours. Results: Throat soreness on the 24thpostoperative hour was significantly less in group F in comparison to group C (p
