From alternative medicine to complementary medicine

Complementary medical techniques, which have been used in the eastern countries as their oriental medicine for centuries, have been adopted and used by many western physicians. There is a huge body of scientific evidence growing on complementary medicine fields. Some physicians adopt and use these techniques without further investigation however there are some that prefer to carry these techniques in to academic area. We owe it to those that have supported the use of these techniques not as an alternative to contemporary medicine, but as a complementary medical approach. There are many techniques, application fields contained within the complementary medicine, however the most commonly applied form in our country is acupuncture, and it is widely used for the treatment of obesity, nicotine abuse and migraine.
