Öz The archaeological invcstigations conducted by Professor Ekrem Akurgal in thc Propontis region bctvveen 1952-1955 yielded imporlant results.1 The Excavations at the mound of Ergili on the South shorc of lake Manyas2 made it possible to determine on the one hand that in this region “ the Greek settlements wcrc foundcd at least at the beginning of the seventh century” and on thc other hand that the city of Daskyleion was buricd under thc mound of Hisar Kalesi near Ergili.3 Thus, thc ancicnt Daskyleion, the Capital of a Persian Satrapy3 has been now defınitly located 5 at the modern Ergili.6
