Şizofreni hastasında intihar: Olgu sunumu

İntihar 'bireyin duygusal, ruhsal ya da sosyal nedenlerin etkisiyle kendi yaşamına son vermesi' olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Kişiyi intihara götüren birçok neden sayılmaktadır. Psikiyatrik bozukluğu olanlarda intihar riskinin, psikiyatrik hastalığı olmayanlara göre 3-12 kat arttığı bildirilmektedir. Ağır psikiyatrik bozukluklar arasında en sıkıntı verici ve en çok yeti yitimine neden olan şizofreni, intihar riskinin en yüksek olduğu bozukluklardan biridir. İntihar sonucunda meydana gelen ölüm olguları, her zaman adli nitelikteki ölümler içerisinde yer almakta olup adli bir soruşturmayı ve otopsi yapılmasını gerektiren durumlardandır. Şizofreni hastalarında intihar sonucu ölüm sık görülmekle birlikte, bu yazıda literatürde rastlamadığımız bir biçimde solunum yoluna çay kaşığı sokarak intihar eden kronik şizofreni hastası erişkin bir erkeğin kullandığı yöntem ilginç bulunarak sunulmuştur.

Suicide of a patient with schizophrenia: a case report

Suicide is defined as "a person's giving an end to his own life due to emotional, psychological, or social effects". There are many reasons leading a person to suicide. It is reported that the suicide risk in those with psychiatric illness increases 3-12 times more than those without psychiatric illness. Causing maximum loss of ability and being the most embarrassing among the mental illnesses, schizophrenia is one of the illnesses with the highest suicide risk. Death cases resulting from suicide are always held as forensic deaths; therefore need judicial inquiry and forensic autopsy. Death resulting from suicide is common in schizophrenic patients; but in this study, a suicide method which we have not encountered in literature, that is, the suicide method of a male adult with chronic schizophrenia who committed suicide by inserting a teaspoon into his respiratory tract is found interesting and presented.
