Ergenlerde depresyon ile ilişkili koruyucu ve risk etkenleri: Karşılaştırmalı bir çalışma

Amaç: Bu çalışmanı amacı, ergenlerde depresyon ile ilişkili bir dizi koruyucu ve risk etkenini tanımlamaktır. Yöntem: Yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme ile majör depresif bozukluk tanısı konan 52 ergen çalışmaya alınmıştır. Kontrol grubu yaş, cinsiyet ve sosyoekonomik düzey açısından klinik grup ile eşleştirilen 58 ergenden oluşmuştur. Katılımcılar Beck Depresyon Envanteri, Kiddo-Kindl Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği, Sosyoekonomik Düzey Ölçeği ve Sosyodemografik Veri Formunu tamamlamıştır. Ayrıca olguların anne ve babalarının depresyon belirti düzeyleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgular: Klinik ve kontrol gruplarının annenin çalışıyor olması, ailede ruhsal bozukluk varlığı, aile içi şiddet varlığı, okul başarısı ve anne-baba arasındaki evlilik sorunları açısından farklılaştığı görülmüştür. Klinik gruptaki ergenlerin, ergen annelerinin ve babalarının depresyon belirti düzeylerinin sırasıyla kontrol grubun- daki ergen, anne ve babalardan daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Depresyonda olan ergenlerde yaşam kalitesi düzeyleri daha düşük bulunmuştur. Yapılan çok değişkenli regresyon analizi final modelinde annenin çalışıyor olması, ailede ruhsal hastalık varlığı, anne-baba depresyon düzeyleri ergen depresyonu açısından risk etkeni olarak saptanmıştır. Özsaygı düzeyi ise, depresyona karşı koruyucu etken olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Ailede psikiyatrik bozukluk varlığı, annenin çalışıyor olması, anne-baba depresyon belirti düzeyi yüksekliği ergen depres- yonu için risk etkeni olarak ortaya çıkmıştır. Ergen özsaygı duygusu depresyon açısından koruyucu olarak rol oynamaktadır.

The risk and protective factors associated with depressive symptoms in adolescents: a comparative study

Objective: To identify a range of risk and protective factors associated with depressive symptoms in adolescents. Methods: Fifty-two adolescents who were diagnosed with semi-structured interviews for major depressive disorder were included in the study. Fifty-eight healthy controls of the same age, gender and socioeconomic status were included in the study. Participants were asked to fill the Beck Depression Inventory, Kiddo-Kindl Quality of Life-Questionnaire, Scale of Socioeconomic Status and Sociodemographic Form. Moreover, depression symptom levels of parents who are involved in clinical and control group were compared. Results: Study and control groups differentiated in terms of employment status of mothers, the presence of mental illness in the family, the existence of domestic violence, marital problems between parents, school performance. It was found that adolescents in the study group, adolescent mothers and fathers‟ symptom levels of depression are higher than adolescents in the control group, adolescent mothers and fathers, respectively. In the depression group, quality of life levels are significantly lower than control group. In multivariate logistic regression analysis in finalmodel; it is found that employment status of mother, the presence of mental illness in the family, mother-father depression scores the lead to an increase in the levels of depression. But self-esteem is a protective role in depression. Conclusion: Employment statuses of mothers, the presence of mental illness in the family, mother- father level of depression appear as risk factors in the way of depression. But self-esteem is a protective role in depression.
