Birey davranışındaki kontrol odağının rol çatışması ve rol belirsizliği algısı ile ilişkisi: Kamu sektöründe bir araştırma

Bu çalışmada birey davranışındaki kontrol odağının çalışma yaşamına ilişkin rol çatışması ve rol belirsizliği algıları ile olan ilişkisi büyük bir kamu kuruluşunda belirlenen 153 çalışan üzerinde araştırılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, iç kontrol odaklı bireylerin algıladıkları rol çatışması ve rol belirsizliğinin, dış kontrol odaklılara nazaran farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı t-testi yapılarak analiz edilmiş ve anılan değişkenler arasındaki korelasyonlar hesaplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, iç ve dış kontrol odaklı olmanın algılanan rol belirsizliğinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark yarattığı, ancak rol çatışması bakımından böyle bir farklılaşmanın bulunmadığı saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, kontrol odağıyla rol çatışması ve rol belirsizliği arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulguların yönetsel uygulamalara en önemli katkısı, yüksek rol belirsizliği taşıyan görevlerde istihdam edilecek kişilerin içsel kontrol odaklı bireylerden seçilmesinin faydalı olacağı noktasındadır.

The relationship of locus of control in individual behavior with role conflict and role ambiguity: An investigation in the public sector

This study aims to explore the relationship of locus of control in individual behavior with role conflict and role ambiguity in the workplace environment on the basis of data on 153 selected employees from a leading organization in the public sector. The study has attempted to analyze whether perceived role conflict and role ambiguity differ between individuals with internal locus of control and those with and external locus of control, or not, via t-test, and correlations between the variables were estimated. The analyses found that there was a significant difference in perceived role ambiguity of individuals with internal and external locus of control. No difference was detected with respect to perceived role conflict. In addition, significant correlations between locus of control, role conflict and role ambiguity were found. The most important contribution of the findings to managerial practices is that it may be helpful to employ people with internal locus of control for jobs with high role ambiguity.
