Change in number of males of Parasitoid Pimpla turionellae L. (Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae) Affect Its Progeny Sex Ratio, Longevity and Adult Emergence

The effects of male number on new generation sex ratio, total adult emergence and lifetime ofbiological control agent Pimplaturionellae, which is an important natural parasitoid of variousLepidopteran species, were investigated. Newly emerged, unfed and unmated male and female P.turionellae were used in the experiments. For each group, ten female insects, and respectively one, five and ten male insect were placed in the cages. Ten Galleria mellonella pupae were placed in thecages for the lay eggs by P. turionellae for each period. Total adult emergence showed a significantincrease in group3 (10??+10??) when compared to other groups. Female emergence significantlyincreased with increasing number of males. Average female and male lifetime of group3(10??+10??) was longer than other groups. Male number in population of P. turionellaesignificantly affected female offspring production and total adult emergence.
