The Effect of Mycorrhizae Inoculation on Growth and Nutrient Uptake of Banana Plant Grown in Tissue Culture

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different AM species inoculation on tissue culture micropropagated banana plantlets (Dwarf cavendish) growth and nutrient uptake under greenhouse. Andesitic tuff + Soil + Compost (6:3:1 v:v) was used as the growth media. Mycorrhizae species as Funnelformis caledonius, F.mosseae, Rhizophagus clarus, R. intraradices and cocktail (mixture) species were used. Shoot and root dry weight, P, Zn uptake, root infection and other parameters were determined. According to the research findings, mycorrhiza inoculation has significantly increased the shoot and root dry matter of banana plant's as well as the P and Zn uptake compared to control. F.caledonius and F.mosseae were determined as the most effective species. Mycorrhizae inoculation is an important factor in improving nutrient uptake of banana plant.
