The Effects of Cutting Season and Different IBA (Indol-3 bütirik asit) Concentrations on the Rooting Success of GF-677 Cuttings

In this study, the effects of cutting season and different IBA concentrations on the rooting percentage, number of lateral roots, length of roots, and number of shoots were investigated in GF-677, whichproved to be a valuable rootstock for peach and almond in specific soils. A mist propagation andbottom heat system was used for rooting processes in the Research Greenhouse of KahramanmaraşSütçü İmam University. The benches in the cold greenhouse were filled with perlit as rooting mediaand the temperature provided by bottom heat system was between 22-26 °C during the experiment.Hardwood cuttings of GF-677 were taken in tree periods (early December, late December and midJanuary). Five concentrations of IBA were applied to the cuttings (0, 100, 200, 4000, 8000 ppm) asrooting agent.. IBA treatments were done in two succeeding years with 15 cuttings for each cuttingtime and for each IBA doses. A total of 450 cuttings were used in the experiment. The mean rootingpercentage of GF-677 rootstocks in two years was highest (64.50 %) for cuttings taken in Januarywhich were treated with 1000 and 2000 ppm IBA. When considering all the rooting criteria, the bestIBA dose was found as 1000 ppm and the suitable time for taking cuttings was between Decemberand January for a successful rooting of GF-677
