The Effect of Different Organic Manure Applications on Maize Growth and Nutrient Concentration
The aim of study is to investigate the effects of different organic manure on maize growth and nutrient concentration under greenhouse conditions. The experiment was conducted in the research greenhouse of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Department at Cukurova University. Compost, Sulphur (S), animal manure, basalt were used as organic applications fertilizer were used as an organic fertilizer in Menzilat soil series. After the harvest, shoot and root dry matter production and nutrient concentrations (P, K, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn) of maize plant were determined. The results of the experiment revealed that the highest shoot dry weight was obtained with Animal manure+Sulphur application as 230.5 g/pot. Maximum % P and % K concentration was determined as 0.23% P and 3.83% K respectively in Animal manure+Sulphur treatments. The results shown that plant growth and nutrient concentration significantly increased with animal manure and sulphur applications as a fertilizer have positive effect of microelement concentration. Due to the fact, that our country has limited fertilizer resources, organic fertilizer applications might be environment friendly and economically beneficial approach toward soil care and organic farming.
