The genetic origin of ımportant species in the genus Citrus

The genus Citrus, one of the six genera of ‘true citrus fruit’ group, the subtribe Citrinae, the tribe Citrea, the subfamily Aurantioideae of the family Rutaceae is the most important genus of this group with species number and role of this species in human nutrition. There is no consensus about the number of species in Citrus. Besides, the origin of these species is unclear. Great number of studies, up to date, has made significant contribution on the origins of many Citrus species. In this study, recent status of the species of Citrus was summarized.
