THE IMPACT OF POLITICAL PARTIES AND URBANISATION ON THE PROCESS OF POLARISATION IN THE TURKISH POLITICAL SYSTEM

Öz Since the western democracies allow political parties to be organized freely and give the opportunity for their activities, the concepts of political party and democracy are the two significant developments that are exported to other countries by western civilization. Political parties which have begun to be seen in political structure of Turkey with the process of westernization have different functions than the western ones. The reason is that concepts such as democracy, political parties, parliament are not the result of internal dynamics of Turkey itself, but are imposed from above. Therefore, the institutions borrowed without establishing their infrastructure turned out to be intolerant and disagreeable, and have brought out the tendency of socio-political polarization.
