Job Satisfaction, Colleague Relationships and Administrative Support A Study among Early Childhood Teachers

In this study, relationships among job satisfaction, perceived colleague relationships, perceived administrative support and some personal characteristics (length of service, age, location of the school and educational level) were examined in a sample consisting of early childhood teachers. 138 early childhood teachers who work in a western city of Turkey participated in the study. Research findings indicate significant positive correlations between job satisfaction and perceived colleague relationships (r=.29, p<.01) as well as job satisfaction and perceived administrative support (r=.36, p<.01). In addition, a multiple regression analysis was performed with job satisfaction as the dependent variable and perceived colleague relationships, perceived administrative support and personal characteristics as the independent variables. Only perceived colleague relationships and perceived administrative support were significant predictors of job satisfaction scores. Altogether, the independent variables explained the 17% of the variance in job satisfaction scores.
