N-11 ÜLKELERİNDE POLİTİK İSTİKRARIN ÇEVRESEL BOZULMA ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Öz Politik istikrar günümüzde ekonomik gelişmenin ayrılmaz unsurlarından birisidir. Demokratik sistemlerde karar alma sürecinde özel çıkar gruplarının varlığı politik istikrarı yakından etkileyerek kaynak dağılımını ve kamusal politikaların verimliliğini etkilemektedir. Kamusal politikaların etkilediği alanların başında çevre düzenlemeleri gelmektedir. Bunun yanında gelişme sürecinde toplumların yaşam standardının iyileştirilmesi bağlamında çevre kalitesinin artırılmasına yönelik talepleri de artış göstermektedir. Bu noktada çevresel kaliteyle kurumsal kalite göstergelerinden politik istikrar ilişkisi ayrı bir önem kazanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada 2000-2015 dönemi verileri kullanılarak N-11 ülkelerinde (Bangladeş, Mısır, Endonezya, Iran, Güney Kore, Meksika, Nijerya, Pakistan, Filipinler, Türkiye ve Vietnam) politik istikrarın çevresel bozulmaya etkisi incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, politik istikrar arttıkça çevresel bozulmanın azaldığını göstermektedir. Buna göre politik istikrar çevre kalitesini iyileştirmektedir. Ayrıca ekonomik büyüme, çevresel bozulmayı olumlu etkilerken yenilebilir enerji tüketimi, çevresel bozulmayı olumsuz etkilemektedir.
