15 Mayıs 1919’da İzmir’in Yunan Güçleri tarafından işgal edildi. İşgal güçleri birbirini tetiklemeye hazır olan bir zincir gibi tüm civar bölgelere doğru yayıldı. Fakat Mustafa Kemal önderliğindeki Türk ordusunun üstün başarıları ile tüm yurt düşman güçlerden temizlendi. Bu süreçten sonra Cumhuriyet’in İlanı ve ardı ardına yapılan devrimler ile yepyeni bir devlet kuruldu. Yeni kurulan bu devletin yönetim biçimi olan Cumhuriyet ilanı sadece büyük şehirlerde değil, aynı zamanda kasabalar gibi küçük yerleşim yerlerinde de büyük bir çoşkuyla kutlandı.Turgutlu kasabası ise bu sevinci büyük bir çokuyla yaşayan ve sahip çıkan kasabalardan birtanesidir

Izmir was occupied in 15th May 1919 by Greek Forces. Occupation forces who are ready to trigger like a cahain of another, spread to surrounding areas. But whole country was cleares from enemy forces with outstanding achievements of the Turkish army led by Mustafa Kemal. Following this period, the new state was establish via Proclamation of the Republic and successive revolutions. Proclamation of the Republic which is the form of government of this newly established state, was celebrated with a great enthusiasm not only in big cities but also in small settlements like towns.
