İsmet İnönü 1935 yılında Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün emri ile varolan vaziyeti yerinde görmek amacıyla doğu illerine bir gezi düzenlemiştir. İnönü’nün bu gezi esnasında uğradığı illerden birisi de Trabzon’dur. İsmet İnönü’ye bu gezi esnasında Trabzonun genel vaziyeti hakkında bilgi verilmiş ve İsmet İnönü de bu gezi sonrası verilen bilgileri bir rapor halinde Atatürk’e sunmuş ve yapılan bu çalışmalar ve gözlemler sonucunda bütün doğu bölgelerinin durumuna çare bulunmaya çalışılmıştır.

In 1935 İsmet İnönü, by the order of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, arranged an excursion to the eastern cities of Turkey to see the general situation. One of the cities to which İnönü made a brief visit was Trabzon. İsmet İnönü was informed about the general situation of Trabzon and after his excursion; he presented a report to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Later on according to the report the government took some initiatives in the eastern cities.
