THE ADAPTATION OF THE LEVELS OF EMOTIONAL AWARENESS SCALE: VALIDTY AND RELIABILITY STUDIES

The Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale (LEAS) is a performance measure of the articulation of emotional awareness and consists of 20 vignettes. The purpose of this study was conduct to adaptation of LEAS to Turkish Culture. In this purpose validity and reliability were examined. The sample consisted of 405 undergraduates (195 female and 210 male). For validity; criteria based and content validity were utilized. For reliability; Cronbach Alpha internal consistency and test-retest were estimated. Factor analysis (Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis) indicated that revised Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale might be taken as a one-dimensional scale. The finding shows that, this scale can be used to with acceptable level of validity and reliability for Turkish undergraduate students.
