“Definition Sentence” that has a self- special form in Turkish hasn’t been examined.This topic was examined under the title of “cümle-i ismiyye” in the old grammarbooks written based on the Arabic grammatical rules. This sort of sentence can notbe seen in the grammar books written in 1940. Today, this topic can be found in thecomposition books instead of grammar books. While some writers assess “definitionsentence” as a “defining”, some perceive it as a way of developing thoughts in theirwritings. According to the assessment of this author, definition sentence” is a topicthat the linguists investigate. It should be placed in the grammar books among typesof sentence.
