HUZUREVİNDE KALMAKTA OLAN YAŞLILARDA AİLE İÇİ İSTİSMAR

Bütün dünyada, yaşlı istismarından etkilenen yaşlıların sayısının giderek arttığı dile getirilmektedir. Ülkemizde, “yaşlı istismarı üzerine" yapılan araştırmaların sayısının azlığı dikkat çekmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı; huzurevine girmeden önce yaşlıların aile içinde istismara maruz kalıp kalmadıklarının belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla, İstanbul’da Aile ve Sosyal Politikalar Bakanlığı’na bağlı Bahçelievler Huzurevi Yaşlı Bakım ve Rehabilitasyon Merkezi, Zeytinburnu Semiha Şakir Huzurevi, Göztepe Semiha Şakir Huzurevi ve Çamlıca Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Huzurevi Müdürlüklerinde kalmakta olan93 yaşlı ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında; yaşlıların en fazla “psikolojik istismara", ikinci sırada “ekonomik istismara" ve üçüncü olarak da “fiziksel istismara" maruz kaldıkları belirlenmiştir.

Family Abuse Against the Elders Living in Nursing Homes

It is generally known that the number of the elders who are affected by abuse is in- creasing day by day in the whole world. The small number of researches carried out on “elder abuse" in our country is a notewor- thy phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to determine whether the elders have ex- perienced abuse within their families before they enter the nursing home. To research this case, 93 elders living in Bahçelievler Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center, Zeytinburnu Semiha Şakir Nursing Home, Göztepe Semiha Sakir Nursing Home and Çamlıca Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Nursing Home Directorates, located in the prov- ince İstanbul, were interviewed. All of these centers operate under the control of the Min- istry of Family and Social Policies. In the scope of this study, it is discovered that elders experience “psychological abuse" mostly; secondly comes the “economical abuse "; and thirdly, “physical abuse"is prominent.
