Son yıllarda Türk ekonomisinde yaşanan olumlu gelişmeler, Türkiye’nin Avrupa Birliği’ne üyelik müzakerelerinin başlaması ve buna bağlı olarak geleceğe ilişkin olumlu beklentiler Türkiye’ye yönelik doğrudan yabancı yatırımları artırıcı bir etki meydana getirmiştir. Türkiye’ye yönelik doğrudan yabancı yatırımların yoğunlaştığı önemli bir alanda bankacılık sektörü olmuştur. Bu kapsamda çalışmada; doğrudan yabancı yatırım şeklinde gerçekleşen Türk bankacılık sektörüne yabancı banka giriş nedenlerinin belirlenmesi ve yabancı banka girişlerinin Türk bankacılık sektörü üzerindeki etkilerinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Türk bankacılık sektörüne yabancı banka giriş nedenlerinin belirlenmesi yapılan anket çalışması ile tespit edilmiştir. Yabancı banka girişlerinin Türk bankacılık sektörü üzerindeki etkileri ise oluşturulan ekonometrik model ile ampirik olarak ölçülmeye çalışılmıştır.

(Foreign Direct Investment And Banking Sector Case In Turkey (1990–2005)) In recent years the satisfactory developments in the Turkish economy and the positive expectations related to the deliberations started for the membership of Turkey to the European Union caused an increasing effect on the foreign direct investment in Turkey. Another sector including foreign direct investment densely in Turkey was the banking sector. In this scope the objective of this study was to determine the reasons of the foreign banks taking place in the banking sector developing with the foreign direct investment in Turkey and to find out the effects of the foreign bank participations on the Turkish banking sector. The reasons of the foreign bank participations in Turkish banking sector was determined by a survey study and the effects of these participations on the Turkish banking sector were obtained empirically with an econometric model built in the study.
