Bu çalışmada işletme bölümü öğrencilerinin muhasebe alanında kariyer tercihlerini etkileyen faktörlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıstır. Bu amaç çerçevesinde işletme bölümü öğrencilerini kapsayan bir anket çalısması yürütülmüstür. Anket çalısması ile elde edilen verilerin analizi neticesinde kariyer tercihinde etkili olan faktörler; ekonomik ve is piyasasına iliskin, içsel, meslek hakkında sahip olunan önbilgiye iliskin ve çevresel etkilere iliskin olmak üzere dört ana grupta toplanmıstır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre; muhasebe alanında kariyer yapmayı düsünen öğrenciler ile muhasebe dısı bir alanda kariyer yapmayı düsünen öğrenciler arasında kariyer tercihinde etkili olan faktörlere verilen önem açısından anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamaktadır. Zira her iki gruptaki öğrencilerin de sırasıyla en fazla meslek hakkında sahip olunan önbilgiye iliskin faktörlere, içsel faktörlere, ekonomik ve is piyasasına iliskin faktörlere ve son olarak çevresel etkilere iliskin faktörlere önem verdikleri görülmektedir.

The aim of this paper is investigating the factors affecting the accounting career choice of business students. In the framework of this aim, a survey was conducted that covered business students. According to the analysis of the data gained from the survey, factors affecting career choice were classified in four main groups as economic and market related, intrinsic, foreknowledge about the career and environmental effects related factors. Results indicated that there wasn’t a significant difference between the students which are thinking of making a career in accounting and the students which are thinking of making a career in another fields by the means of the factors affecting career choice. It is seen that both students in two groups give attention to the factors related knowledge about the career, intrinsic factors, economic and market related factors and environmental effects related factors respectively.
