İLKÖĞRETİMDE MATEMATİK BAŞARISINI ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLERE İLİŞKİN ÖĞRENCİ GÖRÜŞLERİ

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretimde matematik başarısını etkileyen faktörlere ilişkin öğrenci görüşleri ile bununla ilişkili olabilecek demografik değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri belirlemektir. Araştırma, ilköğretimde matematik başarısını etkileyen faktörlere ilişkin öğrenci görüşlerini ve bu görüşlerin cinsiyet, genel başarı, matematik başarısı, öğretmen cinsiyeti, anne-baba eğitim durumu ve aylık gelir durumu değişkenlerine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında matematik başarısını etkileyen faktörler; tutum, öğrenme-öğretme metotları, öğretmen, aile ve öğrenme ortamları ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2005-2006 öğretim yılında Eskişehir il merkezinde öğrenim görmekte olan ilköğretim 5. sınıf öğrencileri arasından rastlantısal olarak seçilen 690 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen “İlköğretimde Matematik Başarısını Etkileyen Faktörler” başlıklı ölçme aracı kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi aşamasında, bağımsız gruplar arası t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; matematik başarısını etkileyen faktörlere ilişkin öğrenci görüşleri genel başarı, matematik başarısı, anne-baba eğitim düzeyi, aylık gelir durumu ve öğretmen cinsiyeti değişkenleri açısından anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşmaktadır

STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ABOUT THE FACTORS WHICH AFFECT THE MATHEMATICS SUCCESS IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

The purpose of this study was to determine the students’ opinions about the factors which affect the mathematics success in elementary education and relationships between these opinions and students’ characteristics which may be related with them. This study indicated that to determine differences among the students’ opinions about the factors which affect the mathematics success in elementary education point of view students’ characteristics like gender, general success, mathematics success, gender of teacher, parents’ education levels, families’ income level. The factors which affect the mathematics success in elementary education were determined by mathematics attitude, teaching methods, teacher, family and learning atmosphere. The sample of the study consists of 5th grade 690 students which were selected randomly from primary schools in Eskişehir. Data were collected by “The Factors Which Affect the Mathematics Success in Elementary Education” questionnaire and a demographical information form. Analysis of variance and t-test were employed to analyze data. The results of the study indicated that there were significant differences in opinions point of view students’ general success, mathematics success, gender of teacher, parents’ education levels, and families’ income level.
