Bankalarda Coğrafi Çeşitlenmenin Risk, Likidite ve Finansal Performans Üzerindeki Etkilerinin Değerlendirilmesi: Türkiye’deki Mevduat Bankaları Üzerine Bir Uygulama

Teknolojik gelişmeler ve pazarın genel yapısının talep odaklı bir bakış açısıyla genişlemesi, coğrafi çeşitlenme kavramını ortaya koymaktadır. Bu kavram, riski azaltarak ve performansı artırarak firmaya değer katan sistematik bir karardır. Ancak, bu karar bazı maliyetlere yol açmaktadır ve bu maliyetler nedeniyle, bankanın uygulamasının sonuçları konusunda bir fikir birliği yoktur. Bu çalışma, coğrafi çeşitliliğin bankaların risk, likidite ve finansal performansı üzerindeki etkileri konusunda Türkiye'ye ampirik kanıt sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Panel veri analizine dayalı olarak yapılan analiz, 2007-2017 döneminde ve Türkiye'deki mevduat bankalarının örnekleminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda, coğrafi çeşitlilik ile banka finansal performansı arasında tersine, banka riskleri ile banka likiditesi arasında aynı yönde ve anlamlı sonuçlar bulunmuştur
