The Relationship of Loneliness and Life Satisfaction among Gifted Adolescents

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction among gifted adolescents. The study was conducted with a sample of 106 gifted middle school students who chosen by purposive sampling method. Data were collected by using UCLA Loneliness Scale and Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale. As a result of analyses, a significant negative relationship was observed between loneliness level and life satisfaction of participants. There were no differences found between boys and girls in tems of life satisfaction and loneliness level. As a result of simple regression analysis, 35% of the total variance of life satisfaction level of gifted adolescents was appeared to be explained by their loneliness level. However, these results show that in gifted students’ school and social life taken preventive measures for loneliness will increase their life satisfaction.
