Bu çalışmada serbest bölgelerin dünyada ve Türkiye’deki gelişimi ele alınarak serbest bölgelerin çeşitleri, yararları ve iktisadi etkileri teorik olarak ele alınmıştır. Bununla birlikte Türkiye’deki serbest bölgelerin performansları ve Kocaeli’nde kurulan KOSBAŞ adlı Serbest bölgenin durumu, bölgeye sağlayacağı yararlar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Sonuç olarak bölgenin mevcut durumu ve çalışmalar hakkında bilgi verilerek, Kocaeli’nde kurulmakta olan serbest bölgenin genel durumuna ilişkin bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur

In this work, sorts, benefits and influence factors on economy of free zones are considered theoretically, by taking up development of free zones at World and Turkey. Nevertheless, it is given information about performance of free zones at Turkey, situation of KOSBAŞ which was established at Kocaeli and its benefits to the region. Finally, some suggestions related to general situation of Kocaeli are proposed, by giving information about situation of region and works.
