DİVRİĞİ DÂRÜŞŞİFASI’NIN OSMANLI DÖNEMİNDE “MEDRESE-İ KEBîR” ADIYLA EĞİTİM KURUMU OLARAK İŞLEVİNİ SÜRDÜRDÜĞÜNE DAİR

On Divrighi Dâr Al-Shifa Which Continued its Function in Ottoman Period With the Name of “Medrese-i Kebir”

Divrighi Dâr Al-Shifa was built by Turan Melik Hatun, who was Ahmed Şah’s wife from Mengücükoğulları in 624 H/1228 AD. The Dar Al-Shifa in question was recorded by Evliya Çelebi and he also narrated this building in his work as “Medrese-i Ulu Cami” without mentioning Dâr Al-Shifa. It has been seen that promotions of müderris called as “Fakih” to Medrese-i Kebir had been made from the late years of seventeenth century onwards. All these information indicate that Divrighi Dâr Al-Shifa did not act as a health institution in the Ottoman period but as a Fıkıh Medrese (Madrasa of Law), that is the madrasa in which Islamic Law was taught
