Sidetic Ypsilon

It is shown that the Sidetic Y was not a vowel sign and probably signifies /w/. Therefore, the Sidetic alphabet has only four vowel signs, and the Sidetic language was in this respect similar to Lycian and to Luwian in its latest form. The sound-value /w/ for Y points to the derivation of the Sidetic alphabet from a Semitic alphabet without vowel signs.
