Probiyotik Tüketiminin Dayanıklılık Sporcularında Atletik Performans Üzerine Etkileri

Barsak mikrobiyotası milyarlarca hücre ve mikroorganizmaya ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Mikrobiyotanın; immün sistemin geliştirilmesi, beslenme, büyüme, barsak homeostazının sağlanması gibi önemli fonksiyonlarının olması son yıllarda araştırmacıların ilgisini çekmeye başlamış ve giderek bu konunun popülerliğini artırmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalarda barsakların organizmanın; sindirim sistemi, metabolizma, bağışıklık sistemi ve nöroendokrin uyarıcılar gibi çeşitli mekanizmalarda aktif olarak görev alan yararlı mikroorganizmaları barındırdığı ortaya konmuştur. Diğer yandan barsak mikrobiyomunun barsak mukozasında koruyucu, yapısal ve metabolik fonksiyonları vardır. Son yıllarda mikrobiyotanın egzersiz performansı üzerine olumlu etkileri olabileceği öne sürülmektedir. Henüz bunun altında yatan mekanizma tam olarak açıklanamasa da olası etkinliğin antioksidan enzim sisteminin güçlendirilmesi, yoğun egzersiz kaynaklı meydana gelen oksidatif stresin baskılanması ve kullanılan enerji sisteminin düzenlenmesi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Probiyotiklerin barsak mikrobiyotası üzerindeki iyileştirici etkileri dolaylı olarak atletik performansa olumlu katkılar sağlayabilir. Bu derleme dayanıklılık sporları ile uğraşan sporcularda probiyotik tüketiminin atletik performans üzerine etkilerini incelemek amacıyla yazılmıştır.

Effects of Probiotic Consumption on Athletic Performance in Endurance Athletes

The gut microbiota is home to billions of cells and microorganisms. Microbiota; development of the immune system, nutrition, growth, provision of gut homeostasis, such as important functions have started to attract the attention of researchers in recent years and gradually increased the popularity of this subject. Studies have shown that the guts contain beneficial microorganisms that are active in various mechanisms such as digestive system, metabolism, immune system and neuroendocrine stimulants. On the other hand, the gut microbiome has protective, structural and metabolic functions in the intestinal mucosa.It has been suggested that microbiota may have positive effects on exercise performance in recent years. Although the mechanism that caused it is not yet fully explained, it is thought that the possible activity is the strengthening of the antioxidant enzyme system, the suppression of oxidative stress caused by intense exercise, and the regulation of the energy system used.The curative effects of probiotics on the gut microbiota can indirectly contribute positively to athletic performance. This review is written to examine the effects of probiotic consumption on athletic performance in athletes engaged in endurance sports.
