Bu çalışmanın amacı; Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na bağlı okullarda görev yapan beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin ilk yardım bilgi düzeylerini tespit etmek, ilk yardım konusunun milli eğitim müfredatındaki yeterliliği ve hizmet içi eğitim programlarında yer alması hususundaki tutumlarını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın amacını gerçekleştirmek üzere uygulanan anket 4 bölümden oluşmuştur. Anket'in 1. bölümünde demografik bilgileri belirlemeye yönelik, 2. ve 3. bölümünde ilk yardım bilgisini ölçmeye yönelik sorulara yer verilmiştir. Anket'in 4. bölümünde ise ilk yardım ile ilgili eğitim düzeylerini, ilk yardım konusunun milli eğitim müfredatındaki yeterliliğini ve hizmet içi eğitim programlarında yer alması ile ilgili tutumlarını belirlemeye yönelik sorular yöneltilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Konya ve Karaman il merkezinde bulunan ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim okullarında görev yapan 134 bayan 288 erkek olmak üzere toplam 422 beden eğitimi öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada sonuç olarak; beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin ilk yardım bilgisine orta düzeyde (% 63.81) sahip oldukları bulunmuştur. Beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin genel ilk yardım bilgileri ile ilgili başarı puanlarına; cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, mezun olduğu okul, son mezuniyet durumu, görev yapılan okul ve çalışma yılının önemli bir etkisinin olduğu görülmektedir (p<0.001). Beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin çoğunluğu ilk yardım konusunda özel hizmet eğitimlerine katılmamış, fakat katılmak istediklerini belirtmişlerdir, ilk ve orta öğretimde ilk yardım dersinin trafik dersinden ayrı olarak müfredatta yer alması, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı (M.E.B.) beden eğitimi öğretmenlerine ilk yardım konusunda özel hizmet içi eğitimi düzenli aralıklarla vermesi ve ilk, orta ve yükseköğretimde ilk yardım ders saatinin artırılması konusundaki tutumlarının olumlu olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the first aid knowledge of the physical education teachers working in the state schools of Ministry of National Education, and to determine their attitudes towards the inclusion of first aid instruction into the curriculum and the in-service training. The questionnaire applied for this objective consisted of 4 parts. The first part contained questions aimed to inquire the demographic facts; the 2nd and 3rd parts contained questions aimed to measure the first aid knowledge. The 4th part of the questionnaire consisted of questions aimed to determine the attitudes towards first aid education levels, sufficiency of first aid subject in national education curriculum and taking place at the in-service training programmes. The sampling of the research has been consisted of 134 female and 288 male and total 422 physical education teachers working at the primary and high schools in Konya and Karaman city center. As a result of the research, it has been found that with 63.81 % the physical education teachers have the average first aid knowledge. Further it has been found that sex, age, marital status, the department graduated from, the last graduation status, the school of worked at and experience have had an important effect (p<0.001) on the grades of physical education teachers' general first aid knowledge. The majority of the physical education teachers haven't attended to any first aid course but stated their wishes to attend to a in-service training. They have positive attitudes about taking place in curriculum in primary and secondary education first aid course separating from traffic course, giving special in-service training by the Ministry of National Education to the physical education teachers at the first aid subject and increasing first aid course hour's in primary, secondary and higher education.
