Comparison of Flamingo and Stork Balance Test Among Female Futsal Players and the Effect of Muscle Force on Tests

Flamingo and Stork Tests are most common tests used in measuring static balance in clinical field and rehabilitation process. To date a few studies were conducted to assess association between these tests. 14 female futsal team players participated the study to be assessed this association. Near Flamingo and Stork tests the ankle dorsal-plantar flexion maximum voluntary concentric torques were taken using isokinetic dynamometer (MVCT) to evaluate wheter muscle force is a factor during postural control in application of tests. The balance tests were repeated three times and best scores recorded as data. For isokinetic measurements after 10 repeats of maximum torque value with 60 degree/second angular speed best value was recorded. In data analysis Spearman rank correlation test was used. It was determined that there is no correlation between the scores of Stork and Flamingo Tests but strong correlation between the scores of Stork Balance Test and the ankle MVCT of plantar flexors.
