Parmenides’in, var-olanı temellendirirken var-olmayandan yararlanması, kendinden sonraki felsefenin hareket ve değişim konularına yaklaşımını etkiler.

The Influence Of Parmenides’ Style Of Establishing Existence To The Subsequent Philosophy

Parmenides’ works about existence are not intended to introduce the reason and the conditions of departure of being, but rather intended to understand the nature of being as a particular and a unified whole. For this purpose, Parmenides fixes the existence of being by means of thought. In grounding being, Parmenides uses the concept f non-being when grounding the being. This usage is in the form of proving why the being is not- existent while introducing its structural characteristics. The non-existent is not a concept which has a place and a meaning by itself in his philosophy. That Parmenides drew upon the non-existent while establishing the existent influenced the movement and alteration approach of the subsequent philosophy after himself. One of the philosophers who was influenced by him was Demoktitos. For the philosopher who intended to work on science, not only the investigation of the fundamental being but also the subject of movement becomes the basis. Demokritos is a philosopher who thinks that space is necessary for movement because the concept of movement cannot be studied without the concept of space. Parmenides, when using the concept of non-existent as being contrary to being, establishes this contrast on the basis of the attributes of being. As a result of establishing a contrast between these two concepts, Parmenides accepts the non-existent as absent whereas in Demokritos’ philosophy, non-existent is accepted as a space and philosophized accordingly. The philosophy of Demokritos shows the possibility of thinking and talking about the field, which Parmenides thought not possible by accepting the non-existent as the contrast of being
