There have been a considerable increase in the field of second language belief studies. These studies have provided data about what constitutes teachers’ knowledge and beliefs in their teaching and how these beliefs develop and are reflected in the classroom practices. Although there are numerous studies in the field about teaching reading, writing and especially grammar, there are less studies considering the teaching of speaking and listening. These study aims to analyze and compare the beliefs of eight English Language lecturers at Duzce University about speaking skill and its teaching.
