The purpose of research is to analyze the effects of the POE (Prediction, Observation, Explanation) method which was developed based on the constructivist theory for the activity of planning and conducting of the application on the 3rd degree of high school in physical science’s ‘’electrostatic’’ unit’s ‘’capacitance of a conductor’’ and its introduction with considering the principles of the process of POE method and finding out the efectiveness on the students success. The research was carried out as a quasi-experimental study style during the 2008-2009 spring term of the academic year in the Fatih Highschool, which is located in Trabzon city centre, with the attendance of 30 pupils, who are studying at 2nd degree, and 4 physics teachers, who are serving at the same school. In the scope of the research, the facts of the achievement test results, which was applied upon the pupils, were analysed with the usage of SPSS15.00 plan under the condition of the document analysis of the students about the data which are connected with the process of the activity and post application interview with the teachers’ and the students’ content analysis. Considering the analysis within this framework; it was concluded that, it contributed positive effect upon the pupils which took active responsibility during the lesson and in the contents of the lesson they realized their success and knowledge level. Besides, it was suggested that the usage of this method to be widen via the teaching materials, which have similar features, to be developed and evaluated on the other subjects of the physics, which are suitable of POE method.
