Besides the comprehensive studies on public houses which were of the insitutionsthat were serving the most effectively in the single-party period, the number of scientificstudies on public houses in rural areas is increasing every day. The questions “what did theheadquarters ask from the public houses”, “how were the expectations of the headquarterswas understood in rural areas and how they were applied” will be revealed clearly once theinvestigations made are put together and investigated.In this study, within the context of public houses in Ayvalık; which was, in a sense,re-founded by the change of almost whole population in 1923 with the population exchange,it will also be offered an insight to the years of Ayvalık in years between 1923-1950.
