The topic of this symposium is population exchange which took place between Muslim population of Greece and the Greek orthodox Christian population of Turkey after the convention concerning the Exchange of Turkish Greek populations, signed by Greece and Turkey at the Lausanne Conference which established the fundamentals of modern Turkey. The population exchange will be considered with regard to cultural, social, economical and literatical impacts upon both side. This symposium is the first one which both Turkish and Greek scientist attended and which hold in Turkey. In this respect it may be said that this is the most important advisement we have not seen in this field of studies ever before. The scientifically method of the symposium consists of examining subject from an objective and unprejudiced point of views. And it constitutes a considerable example for other studies interested in the subject. Population exchange influences individual lives directly .Accordingly, it is not only a historical matter, but at the same time a existential one. Because to change someone’s physical habitat is to change his world. Culture, literature, economics and society constitute someone’s individual identity. The changing of a form of life, therefore, means the changing of this identity. So this symposium will investigate individual identities and worlds changed in course of history ...
