Görselleştirme Becerilerini Geliştirmeye Yönelik Ögretim Uygulamaları Problem Çözmede Görselleştirmenin Etkili Kullanımını Destekler mi?

Bu çalışmada, görselleştirme becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik öğretim uygulamalarıyla yürütülenmatematik derslerinin, öğrencilerin matematikte görselleştirmeyi kullanmaları ve etkili kullanmalarıüzerindeki rolü araştırılmıştır. Kontrol gruplu ön test-‐‑son test modeline dayalı olan bu deneyselçalışmanın deney ve kontrol gruplarını 2010–2011 Eğitim-‐‑öğretim yılında İzmir´deki bir ilköğretimokulunun 8. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır (NDeney=21, Nkontrol=22). Deney grubunda “I.dereceden birve iki bilinmeyenli denklemler” konusunun işlenişi bilgisayar destekli görsel sunumlarla vegörselleştirme çalışmalarıyla yürütülmüştür. Öğrencilerin görselleştirmeyi kullanma durumlarıuygulama öncesi ve sonrası araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan “Matematikte Soyut DüşünmeTesti”yle irdelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçları görsel sunumlarla yürütülen matematik dersleri veyapılan görselleştirme çalışmaları sonrasında problem çözmede görselleştirmenin kullanımında veetkili biçimde kullanımında artış olduğunu göstermiştir.

Can Teaching Applications for Developing Visualization Skills Promote Effective Visualization Usage in Problem Solving?

In this study, it has been investigated the role of teaching applications which intend to developvisualization skills of the students on visualization usage and effective visualization usage in problemsolving. It is an experimental research based on an experimental pre-‐‑test post-‐‑test model. Theexperimental and control groups consist of the 8th grade (14-‐‑15-‐‑year-‐‑old) students of a secondaryschool in Izmir/ Turkey. The experiment group was formed of 21 students, while the control groupwas formed of 22 students. In the experimental group, teaching process of “systems of linearequations” subject was carried out by using computer-‐‑based visual representations and visualizationpractices. Before and after the teaching application and practices, the status of visualization usage andeffective visualization usage of students was examined with “Abstract Thinking in Mathematics Test”which has been developed by the researchers. Results showed that to practice visualizing on routineproblem solving effect the students´ preferences on using visual modes of thought and problemsolving when they solve non-‐‑routine problems. According to posttest scores of experimental group, usage and effective usage of visualization in problem solving were increase.
