ETNİK ÇATIŞMALAR VE BİRLEŞMİŞ MİLLETLER BARIŞ GÜÇLERİ
Bu makale, Soğuk Savaş sonrası döneme damgasını vuran etnik çatışmalarda Birleşmiş Milletler BM barış güçlerin etkinliğini tartışmayı amaçlamakta, söz konusu güçleri güçlü ve zayıf yönleri itibariyle değerlendirmektedir. Bu bağlamda, etnik çatışmaların önlenmesi ve çözümlenmesi sürecinde BM barış güçlerinin sağladığı yararlara değinilmekte, ancak bu güçlerin karşılaştıkları ciddi sorunlar da ayrıntılı bir biçimde irdelenmektedir. Değerlendirmeler ışığında çalışma, BM barış güçlerinin etnik uyuşmazlık çözümünde daha etkin bir araç haline gelebilmeleri için mevcut sorunlarının ivedi olarak aşılması gereğine dikkat çekmektedir

ETHNIC CONFLICTS AND UNITED NATIONS PEACEKEEPING FORCES
This article evaluates the efficacy of United Nations UN peacekeeping forces in ethnically-driven conflicts that seem to have replaced the ideological clashes of the Cold War as the principle sources of current conflicts. In coping with ethnic conflicts, the utility of UN peacekeeping operations is underlined, but many serious problems UN peacekeeping has faced are also addressed. Based on the evaluation, the study draws attention to the need for overcoming the present weaknesses of UN peacekeeping forces to make them a more efficient tool of ethnic conflict resolution
