Öz Despite the membership process continues, it can be said that, in fact, Turkey's acqıı aintance with the EU is of the same age as a half century-adventure owing to its citizens living in these countries. The process' not going parallel with that of the newly joined countries, the negotiations' being postponed continuously or such offers' as the privileged partnership being offered lead Turkish public opinion to approach the developments related to the EU membership more moderately and to re-judge its objectivity even though many of the de rigueur membership criteria have been carried out. It can be said that the existence of the 4 million Turkish population living in Europa and its acquired experiences support the anxieties and negativity of the EU. It is known that the anxieties of the EU are generally based on the cultural, sociological and theological structure, and high population ratio of Turkey. The Turks have been living in EU countries as citizens or immigrants for years. However; how necessary Turkey's membership is at the present situation, and whatever it will provide fort he Turkish are judged. This study has been carried out with the aim of putting forward scientifically the opinions of the Turkish people about the union, having the EU experience actually. In that study supported with a questionnaireapplication, significant findings have been achieved.
