Hastaneler gibi sağlık hizmetleri sunan sektör yöneticilerinin ana hedefi maliyetleri azaltırken servis kalitesini iyileştirmektir. Bu nedenle, tanı ve tedavi gibi tıbbi çalışmalar yanında hasta memnuniyeti ve kurumun gelir ve giderleri gibi idari konularda da karar vermeye yönelik kullanışlı ve anlamlı bilgiye ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu ihtiyaca cevap vermek amacıyla, özellikle hastaneler gibi yoğun bilgi akışının olduğu kurumlardaki verinin, anlamlı ve kullanılabilir hale getirilmesi için farklı yöntemler ve yardımcı yazılımlar kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile sağlık sektörü yöneticilerine, ihtiyaç duyulan karar verme noktalarında, zaman dilimli ve çok boyutlu veri görünümü sağlayan OLAP (Online Analytical Processing – Çevrimiçi Analitik İşleme) yöntemleriyle yol gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında geliştirilen ve OLAPPROG adı verilen uygulama ile kullanıcılarının OLAP yöntemlerinin temel analitik işlemlerinden yararlandırılması amaçlanmıştır. Pamukkale Üniversitesi Hastaneleri yöneticileriyle yapılan değerlendirmeler sonucu belirlenen 16 değişik karar destek noktasında gerçekleştirilen uygulama, HBYS (Hastane Bilgi Yönetim Sistemi) ile entegre edilmiş ve hastane yöneticilerine karar vermelerinde yol gösterici olmuştur.

In the healthcare industry such as hospitals, the main objective of the managers is lowering the costs while improving the service quality. Therefore, in addition to the medical studies such as diagnosis and treatment, some beneficial and meaningful information is needed for making decisions on some administrative issues like patient satisfaction, income and outcome of the institution. In order to meet this requirement, various methods and utility software are used to make the data meaningful and beneficial particularly in the institutions such as hospitals where there exists an intensive flow of information. With this study, it is aimed at guiding the managers in the healthcare industry at some points at the decision making stage by use of the OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) methods that provide time-segmented and multidimensional data view. The application, developed within this study and named as OLAPPROG, aims at making the users to get benefit from the basic analytical processes of the OLAP methods. Moreover, the application, implemented at 16 different decision support points that have been determined as a result of some discussions with Pamukkale University Health Research and Practice Centre administrators, has been integrated with Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) and guided the hospital managers in decision-making issues.
