MULTİPLE SKLEROZ HASTALARININ YAŞAM KALİTESİ VE RUHSAL DURUMLARI

ÖZETAmaç: Bu çalışma, bir araştırma ve uygulama hastanesi’nde tedavi görmekte olan Multiple Skleroz hastalarında yaşam kalitesi,  ruhsal durumları ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacı ile tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini bir Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi Nöroloji Hastalıkları Kliniğinde tedavi görmekte olan ve poliklinikte takip edilen MS tanısı olan çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 45 hasta oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak Kısa Form SF-36 ve Genel Sağlık Anketi - 12 kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, bağımsız gruplarda t testi, Mann Whitney U testi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan hastaların %64.6’sı kadın, %64.4’ü evli, %44.4’ü çalışmamaktadır. Hastaların %11.1’inin ailelerinde MS öyküsü olup %13.3’ü yardımcı alet kullanmaktadır. Çalışan hastaların yaşam kalitesi ölçeği fiziksel rol alt boyutu puan ortalaması ve çocuğu olmayanların fiziksel fonksiyon alt boyutu puan ortalaması anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek çıkmıştır (p<0.05). Hastaların %26.8’inin yüksek ruhsal sorun yaşama riskine sahip oldukları saptanmıştır. Yardımcı alet kullanan hastaların Genel Sağlı Anketi-12 ölçek puan ortalamaları anlamlı bir şekilde yüksek çıkmıştır  (p<0.05).Sonuç: Çalışma sonuçlarına göre MS hastalarının yaşam kalitesinin düşük olduğu, hastaların yarıya yakınının ruhsal durumunun iyi olmadığı saptanmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Multiple skleroz; yaşam kalitesi; mental durum; hemşirelik.              ABSTRACTLife Quality and Mental States of Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Objective: This descriptive study was conducted for the purpose of determining the affecting factors and life quality, mental states in patients with Multiple Sclerosis receiving treatment at a research and practice hospital. Methods: The study sample consisted of 45 patients diagnosed with MS that were receiving treatment at Harran University Medical Faculty Research and Application Hospital Neurological Diseases Clinic, were followed in polyclinics and accepted to participate in the study. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test and Mann Whitney U test. Results: Among the patients who participated in the study; 64.6% were women, 64.4% married and 44.4% unemployed. 11.1% of patients had MS history in their families and 13.3% used assistive devices. Employed patients obtained significantly higher scores from the lower dimension of physical role of the Life Quality Scale and patients who had no children obtained significantly higher scores from the lower dimension of physical function (p<0.05). It was determined that 26.8% of patients had a high risk of mental problems. It was observed that patients using assistive devices obtained significantly higher scores from the General Health Questionnaire-12 scales  (p<0.05).Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that MS patients had a lower life quality and almost half of patients had the symptoms of mental problems. Life Quality And Depressıon in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis Receiving Treatment at Harran University

Objective: This descriptive study was conducted for the purpose of determining the life quality and depression in patients with Multiple Sclerosis receiving treatment at Harran University. Methods: The study sample consisted of 45 patients diagnosed with MS that were receiving treatment at Harran University Medical Faculty Research and Application Hospital Neurological Diseases Clinic, were followed in polyclinics and accepted to participate in the study. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test and Mann Whitney U test. Results: There was a significant difference between the score averages in the lower dimension of physical role according to the working conditions of patients, the score averages in the lower dimension of physical function according to the state of having children and the score averages in the mental health (p < 0.05).Evaluating in terms of depression; it was determined that 42.2% of patients had the risk of depression. Besides, there was a significant difference between the score averages of the GSA-12 Scale according to patients using and not using subsidiary tools(p˂0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that MS patients had a lower life quality and almost half of patients had the symptoms of mental problems.
