Sözlü kültürün en önemli örneklerinden kabul edilen destanlar, ortak bir tarihle birlikte bir ulusun oluşmasında, ulusal kimliğin biçimlenmesinde, sosyo-ekonomik, kültürel ve siyasal işlevleri yerine getirdikleri için, son zamanlarda siyasal iletişimin en önemli konuları arasında kabul edilmiş, semiyolojik açıdan incelenmeye başlanmış, ulusal bağ ve örgülerin sıklaşmasında, kimi zamanda da bir ulus yaratmada geniş ölçüde yararlanma yolunda hayli yol alınmıştır. Dünyanın en uzun destanlarından biri olarak kabul edilen Manas Destanı yalnız Kırgız Türklerinin değil, Tüm Türk Dünyasının ulusal bilinç oluşumuna zemin hazırlaması bakımından ortak ögeler taşımaktadır. Bu makalede siyasal iletişimin teknik ve metotları kullanılarak bu ortak ögelerin harekete geçirilebileceği tartışmaya açılmaktadır.
